Consequences of not complying

Apart from causing harm to the environment,

• Any unauthorised air discharge related offence could result in an infringement fine of $300 per offence or prosecution.

• Any unauthorised discharge (solid or liquid) to water or land or land in a manner the contaminant(s) could directly or indirectly enter water could result in an infringement fine of $750 per offence or prosecution.

• Any unauthorised diversion or damming of the stream or structure in stream could result in an infringement fine of $500 or prosecution.

• Depending on your regional council's cost recovery policy cost recovery there may be a charge for investigation or inspection of the incident caused by you.
