Pesticide Use

  • Avoid pesticide use if possible. Weed infestation may be related to poor soil, water and pasture management (e.g. excessive pugging or compaction, overgrazing, and water logged conditions). Correct this issue at the source rather than chemical remedy which may only provide short-term solution.

  • Use pesticides in accordance with the manufacturer’s directions and regional council requirements.

  • Select the type of pesticide for the purpose. Avoid the use of persistent pesticides and pesticides that are harmful to beneficial insects such as bees.
  • Avoid spray drift outside the boundary and into waterways.

  • Store all pesticides in a safe and non-floodable area well away from groundwater bores and waterways.

  • Dispose containers, washings or residual pesticides as per the manufacturer’s directions or regional council’s requirements.
